This is an event managed by Broadwick Live. It is a new venue so please be considerate of how your actions and attitude onsite may impact upon the impression of the event, its stakeholders, the general public and venue neighbours.

Broadwick Live maintains high standards of health and safety and requires contractors and their staff to undertake their work in a safe way, which does not put themselves or others in danger.

Broadwick Live reserves the right to require the removal from the premises of any member of the contractors’ staff who does not comply with these requirements or who puts themselves or others at risk.

There is a live Sprinkler system throughout the venue.

This is very sensitive to any heat or knock. Please be extremely careful if working at height that you do not knock the sprinkler heads or pipes

GENERAL

On Arrival

  • Please bring proof of your induction acknowledgement e-mail.
  • If you have not completed your induction in advance, you will need to complete this on site, which may cause delays to you starting work.
  • Arriving by foot please head to the Pedestrian Gate located off the roundabout closest to the building, opposite the Tesco garage..
  • All vehicle arrivals head to the “North Vehicle Gate’. If you type ’North Vehicle Gate’ it comes up in Google Maps. ///across.verse.below.
  • Vehicle parking must have been agreed in advance. If your vehicle is not on the parking list you will need to park in the 24-hour parking in Tesco Car park opposite Drumsheds. If you have been allocated parking you should head to the North Vehicle Gate ///across.verse.below where your vehicle will be accredited and informed where to park. There is no other vehicle access route on site.
  • All staff and visitors’ to ‘all staff and visitors must head to the accreditation cabin (white cabin) to sign in and be accredited. .
  • Any person or vehicle accessing the site is subject to a search, on entry, exit or both.
  • All works onsite must be undertaken within a barriered work zone.
  • All staff are responsible for the cleanliness of their work area and must use the provided recycling facilities.

Tools

  • Staff must ensure that all equipment and tools not in use are safely and securely stored in an appropriate area, so that they are only accessed by authorised persons and will not pose a danger to other workers or visitors to a site.
  • Staff must also ensure that all tools and equipment will be suitable for use, in good working order, CE/UKCA marked where appropriate, and will only be used for the purpose for which they were intended.
  • When using tools always undertake a visual check first – report any problems to the Production Office. If the activity involves a noisy activity ensure you use suitable noise protection and where possible rotate your work.
  • You must not interfere with or plug into anything other than 13A plug sockets with express permission from Production Management or the site electricians Project Power.
  • Carpentry or other similar works must only be undertaken with express permission or within designated zones.

PPE

  • You must have the right equipment and clothing to do the job before you start – including safety footwear and high visibility tabards. Absolutely no exceptions. Speak with your line manager if you are unclear or have concerns.
  • High Visibility vests must be worn at all times.
  • High visibility vests must be yellow or orange in colour, no other colour is acceptable.
  • Protective Shoes must be worn at all times.
  • Hard Hats are required for any working at height areas and in Room X at all times during the build and break. Security will be checking that hard hats are being worn and anyone not following this rule will be asked to leave site.
  • Gloves are required for any manual handling tasks.
  • Protective eyewear for any identified risks requiring them.
  • Other PPE as per your task specific risk assessment.
  • Suitable clothing for the weather

Roof Access

Access to the roof spaces of Drumsheds is only permitted if the staff have express permission from the Broadwick Live representative. Staff must comply with the rules laid out in the Roof Access Procedure and must either have undergone roof access induction prior to access, or be escorted by Broadwick Live roof trained staff.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Competence and Training

If you haven’t had the training or don’t have the competency to do it.
Dont do it.

Conduct

  • The use of personal music devices is not permitted when you are working.
  • Raised voices, shouting and swearing is discouraged unless in response to imminent danger.
  • All site-wide safety signage and notices must be observed and obeyed.
  • The use of mobile phones is prohibited when operating plant or working at height.
  • No one must interfere with anything provided in the interest of health, safety and welfare.
  • Please leave the site safely and quietly with consideration for other residents.
  • You must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs whilst working onsite.

Accidents & Near Misses

Accident = An unplanned event that causes harm.
Near miss = An unplanned event that could have caused harm.

All accidents and near misses must be reported to the Reception and the person that booked you for your work on site.If you see something that could hurt someone…
Let the reception team know ASAP.

Sign Off

Completion Certificates are required for all completed works onsite, please ensure you have checked with the Production or Operations Manager prior to leaving site when works are complete.

Please speak to your supplier on your designated break area during the build and where you can leave your bags. Please do not leave bags on the floor or unattended at any time.

We ask that everyone:

  • Be mindful of your own behaviour, and any behaviour by others, which may be interpreted as sexist
  • Seek consent for any interaction not just physical
  • Never make comments or judgements on the physical appearance of others
  • If commenting on attire only be positive
  • Do not make assumptions about anyone’s gender and avoid using gendered terms such as ‘miss’ ‘mister’ ‘mam’ ‘sir’ ‘guys’
  • If an attendee is struggling physically let them know you are on hand if they need
  • Avoid comments which single out, or prejudice, individuals by their ethnic or national background. Racist or xenophobic behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.

EMERGENCY SITUATION RESPONSE PLAN

There is a site wide emergency procedure that is briefed to all key staff and management. In the event of an emergency follow the instructions of security.
The below is some key information

On Discovering A Fire Or Emergency

Do – Call for assistance.
Do – Tackle the fire if safe to do so.
Do – Always use the correct extinguisher.

After Leaving The Location

Do – Go to the assembly point in North Car Park.
Do – Move well away from the building.
Do – Leave clear access for emergency services.
Do NOT – Attempt to re-enter the venue until you are told it is safe to do so.

On Hearing The Venue’s Alarm

Do – Leave the venue by the nearest available exit.
Do NOT – Stop to collect personal belongings.

Setting The Alarm Off Accidentally

Do – Report the matter to the Reception.

Suspicious Package

All suspicious packages and persons will be reported through to the security staff to deal with.

Assembly Points

  • North Car Park
  • Do NOT re-enter the building until the fire brigade have given the all clear.

TERRORISM

Suspect Packages

  • If you discover a suspicious package inform the Reception and or security immediately.

Suspicious People/Activity

  • If you see anyone acting suspiciously in or around the venue please contact the Reception.
  • Give them an accurate description of the person/s and what makes them look suspicious to you.

PERMITS AND LICENSES

Permits

All works requiring a permit to work, will require a dynamic risk assessment before permit is issued.

You must ensure that all competency certificates for certifiable works are in your company risk assessment and method statement.

Plant & Machinery

All Staff operating vehicles, plant and equipment on or around the site must have received appropriate training and be in the possession of suitable training certificates/licenses.

Passengers MUST NOT be carried on trolleys or trucks.

This includes:

  • Deliveries to, and collections from the site.
  • The use of forklifts, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) and other automated lifting equipment.

This condition applies whether the organiser/venue or the contractors supply the plant.

You MUST:

  • Anyone using power tools, access or lifting equipment must be trained to do so and provide evidence of their training at the production office prior to commencing work. Necessary protective equipment must be used at all times. Lifting equipment must be marked with its SWL and LOLER cert.
  • Provide the Production Manager or on-site safety advisor with proof of your competence (e.g. IPAF card).
  • Ensure that the plant or equipment is under a regular inspection regime and fit for its intended task.
  • Ensure that the plant or equipment is used for its intended purpose, in an appropriate manner.

Hot Works

  • For any hot works such as grinding, cutting, welding a hot work permit will need to be completed prior to any works commencing.
  • The Operations Team will provide you with it.
  • Make sure you sign it off and return it to the site manager department.

Vehicles

  • DRIVING ON-SITE. The site speed limit is walking speed only; all on-site vehicle movement must be escorted by a banksman.
  • If you are in a traffic marshal role you must wear high visibility jackets at all times.
  • All vehicles will be held at the North Vehicle gate entrance for accreditation.
  • Please ensure you make contact with your site contact to confirm your arrival time.

Please DO NOT let vehicle engines run idle, turn engines off wherever possible.

All trucks/vehicles must be isolated (ignition off & keys removed) when unloading and loading vehicles.

Manual Handling

  • There are a number of activities to be undertaken which involve lifting heavy loads; all person undertaking manual handling work should be inducted prior to commencing this work.
  • Do not lift anything heavy than that of which you are comfortable with.
  • Always work as a team when lifting heavy loads.

WORKING AT HEIGHT

When working at height you must remove the risk of items falling, and also ensure that you control the working zone below your working at height. Avoid where ever possible people being in that zone.
Where people must work underneath you or there is a risk they may need to access the area hard hats must be worn.

Mobile Scaffold Towers

  • PASMA trained staff only to use.
  • Outriggers MUST be used.
  • Toe boards MUST be used.
  • 3T method only for assembly.
  • Use tower in line with operators manual.
  • NEVER push with people or objects on the deck.

Mobile Elevated Platforms

  • IPAF trained staff only to use.
  • Operator checks prior to use.
  • Operator flooring checks prior to use.
  • No work leaning over handrail.
  • Use MEWP in line with operators manual.
  • Ensure work area below is secure from access.
  • Permission must be given prior to use.
  • PPE – High Vis and Hard Hats.
All work at height (including low level) must be carried out safely. Steps and ladders must be secure and particular care taken to avoid over—reaching or leaning.
Make sure they are footed by a second person and you do not access the top rung of the ladder. Absolutely no standing on flight cases, crates, vehicles etc.

Ladders

  • Trained staff only.
  • Operator checks prior to use.
  • Operator flooring checks prior to use.
  • Second person to foot ladder.
  • Three points of contact at all time.
  • Only for short term works.
  • Do not work off top three rungs of ladder.
  • Do not overreach.
  • ensure ladder is suitable for height.
  • Create a work zone under your working at height.

FIRST AID

First Aid On Event

  • Dedicated first aid staff are present during the event.

First Aid On Build & Break

  • First Aid staff are located in the medical and welfare room on level 1 for the entire build and break. They can be contacted on venue radios on channel 8.

WELFARE

Toilets

  • Staff toilets are located on the 2nd floor in the Gallery Area (next to catering).

Hand Washing

  • Is available in the toilets.

Drinking Water

  • Drinking water can be found in the Galler Area level 2.
  • Please speak to your supplier on your designated break area during the build and where you can leave your bags. Please do not leave bags on the floor or unattended at any time.

Seated Rest Areas

  • Are available onsite, please ask security or the Production team for your area.
  • No access to any Drumsheds offices or meeting rooms.
